PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Kringle Gonna Kringle DAY 9 Golf Giveaway 1: FULL Set of New 2025 Srixon ZXi5 or ZXi7 Irons (YOU Choose)

From start to finish 2025 was a year long commanding performance for Srixon Golf.  Srixon notched 34 global victories, had 10 players in the FedExCup Playoffs, and won 3 major championships across all professional Tours.  And a big reason for this dominant display?  The new Srixon ZXi 5 and ZXi7 irons.

I played the ZXi5 irons a lot this season and showed them to you all year long.  And every time I did you loved it.  They're scroll stoppers that you can't help but admire.  And their performance is even better.  There were rounds this year where you'd think my ZXi5s were allergic to missing greens.  So for the first Kringle Gonna Kringle giveaway in DAY 9 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas let's drop a Kringle Haymaker!  One of you will win a FULL Set of Srixon ZXi irons, and you can choose between the ZXi5 or the ZXi7, RH or LH, whatever you want baby!

I reviewed the Srixon ZXi5 irons for you this year.  They're so long they stretch yardage books.  So easy to hit they're basically, "Aim. Hit. Smile."  ZXi5 are powerful, playable, and honestly have all the forgiveness I think 99-percent of golfers will ever need and could ever ask for.

And the Srixon ZXi7 irons are even more accurate than the Zxi5.  Play these long enough and they'll make pin hunting your personality trait.  Clearly these are engineered for players who do not ever want to miss.  You can hit target windows with ZXi7 seemingly on demand and that will make any flag nervous.  Insanely consistent dispersion.  And the soles (also with the ZXi5) are some of the absolute best designs in the industry.

I'm going to quickly touch on some similarities and differences between the Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons for you here to help you decide which irons would be best for you.  Like we have in previous days consider this like a mini-review for Kringle purposes.  And as always if you have any questions happy to answer best I can.

Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 Shape and Feel

Both the Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons are compact shaped.  ZXi5 are a tad longer heel to toe (bigger footprint).  At address they almost look identical.  ZXi5 also have a slightly wider sole and more offset than the ZXi7.  Both irons have Srixon's Tour V.T. sole that cuts quickly and smoothly through the turf even if you come into impact steep.

Srixon ZXi7 feel is extraordinary blending a soft and solid feel that rivals any iron existing today.  Feels like butter, hits like a hammer could be the ZXi7 motto.  And the ZXi5 irons also have a soft, powerful feel at impact but compared to ZXi7 it's more subdued with a tad more click.

Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 Distance and Forgivness

Most players will get more ball speed, more launch, and more forgiveness with the Srixon ZXi5 compared to the ZXi7.  Even your worst swings with ZXi5 will get a standing ovation.  My iron swing speed is in the mid-80s and I come into the ball with a flat attack and I saw about 2 degrees higher launch with ZXi5 and peak heights about five feet higher than with ZXi7.  And of course this is going to help many players gain more carry distance.  ZXi5 did spin about 500 RPM less than ZXi7 for me but at the same time I had slightly steeper descent with ZXi5 (1-2 degrees) which makes holding greens pretty easy.

Srixon ZXi5 also has an "absolute" larger area of the face that's more forgiving compared to ZXi7.  So you have more room to miss with ZXi5.  But interestingly I'd call ZXi7 "proportionately" just as forgiving as ZXi5.  ZXi7 have a touch more consistency on mishits than previous generations of ZX7 and ZX7 Mk II.  I played both of these older generation irons and never had the forgiveness performance on both heel and toe misses that I do with ZXi7.  Yes if you miss on the toe the ZXi7 face will open slightly more than the ZXi5 on similar toe misses (ZXi5 is more stable).  But it's fascinating how ZXi5 and ZXi7 both retain spin and distance numbers equally well compared to center strikes.

That's what I mean when I said both irons are proportionately forgiving.  Heel misses with ZXi7 only lose about 3 yards and toe misses just a tad more at 4 yards compared to center strikes.  Whereas ZXi5 toe and heel misses each lose only about 5 yards compared to center strikes.  And this kind of save-your-score forgiveness turns more of your "oops shots" into "oh wow shots."

Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi7 Control and Playability

The Srixon ZXi5 irons are more compact looking than the previous ZX5 Mk II and that's one of the big reasons I switched from ZX7 Mk II to ZXi5 this year.  I love compact shape irons above all else and I got that shape this year with  ZXi5.  When you throw in tighter dispersion areas that are closer to ZXi7 than ZX5 Mk II it was a no-brainer for me.  ZXi5 also gave me steeper descents than ZX5 Mk II so it was full systems go all year.

Ultimately the ZXi5 are very long and high flying irons that make even backyard swings look respectable.  ZXi5 will give just about anyone's iron game a wide safety net on misses instead of sending you a sympathy card.  ZXi5 makes you feel like you find the sweet-spot even when you actually don't.  Should I go on?  I'd strongly recommend these to anyone.

The Srixon ZXi7 irons didn't make as big a jump in distance gain as say the ZX7 did to the ZX7 Mk II.  But ZXi7 did make a jump in playability.  I don't know if Srixon tweaked the Tour V.T soles or maybe there's different or nuanced weighting in ZXi7 compared to previous models.  But there's something going on that made me cheer on ZXi7 mishits instead of yell.  They've transformed ZX7 Mk II hopeful shots into ZXi7 spot-on shots.  ZXi7 precision is so good it will make your GPS jealous.

  2. What a way to kick off the Kringle Gonna Kringle giveaways Pete! I had Srixon irons in the bag from 2015 - 2019, and they were fantastic. Srixons have been around the top of the list the last couple of times I bought new irons, and I know the ZXi5s would absolutely be up there if I was being fit for new irons now.
