Record-Setting Medalists Overcome Delay, Tough Foes to Reach Final 16 at Oak Hills C.C.

Hearing the airhorn on the fifth green, especially with some nerves still fluttering in their stomachs, was not what record-setting co-medalists Lauren and Katelyn Lehigh wanted 73 minutes into their Round-of-32 match on Monday at Oak Hills Country Club.



The ensuing four-hour, 1-minute weather suspension didn’t make things easier on the Loveland, Colo., sisters who had earned the No. 1 seed for match play in the 9th U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship with their 14-under-par 128 showing the previous two days.

USGA Officially Opens Golf House Pinehurst

The United States Golf Association (USGA) has officially opened Golf House Pinehurst, its seven-acre campus located footsteps from the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club main clubhouse. Big Hitter Chris Gotterup Goes the Distance at Myrtle Beach Classic

Bridgestone Golf staffer Chris Gotterup captured his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the Myrtle Beach Classic. Gotterup’s confidence in his 2024 Bridgestone TOUR B X golf ball led to a final round 67 and 22-under-par total that was marked by signature big drives and clutch putting.

After a distinguished college career during which he won the Haskins and Nicklaus awards as well as being named Big 12 Golfer of the Year, the New Jersey native decided to search for the best gear for his game and made a visit to Bridgestone’s Covington, GA, facility, where he worked at length with company ball fitters. After seeing first-hand the extreme distance and trajectory control he was getting from the TOUR B X, Gotterup signed as a Bridgestone staffer and began playing the ball as he entered the professional ranks.

Leovao, Craig Sisters Card 63s for First-Round Lead at Oak Hills C.C.

Janae Leovao picked a good time to make her first competitive hole-in-one. That ace – on the 171-yard second hole at Oak Hills Country Club – buoyed Leovao and twin sister, Jasmine, to an 8-under-par 63 in Saturday’s first round of the 9th U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship.

The 20-year-old twins from Oceanside, Calif., share the lead with another set of sisters, Caroline and Catie Craig, of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga. The 63s are the second-lowest 18-hole scores in the championship’s brief history.

Woods Accepts Special Exemption into 124th U.S. Open

Three-time U.S. Open champion Tiger Woods has accepted a special exemption from the USGA into the 124th U.S. Open Championship, which will be contested June 13-16 on Pinehurst Resort & Country Club's Course No.2 in the Village of Pinehurst, NC.

Woods, 48, won the 2000, 2002 and 2008 U.S. Open Championships in addition to 12 other major championships and 82 total PGA Tour victories in his Hall of Fame career. His nine USGA titles, matched only by Bob Jones, include three consecutive U.S. Junior Amateurs (1991-1993) followed by three straight U.S. Amateurs (1994-1996) and an overall USGA match play record of 42-3.

Team Srixon Tallies Two Wins on LPGA and PGA Tours

Srixon’s Hannah Green and Shane Lowry both captured victories on Sunday, with Green securing her second consecutive LPGA Tour victory at the JM Eagle LA Championship, and Lowry at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

In a blistering back-nine performance at the challenging Wilshire Country Club, Green carded three birdies and an eagle to finish the tournament at 12-under-par, three strokes clear of the field. Green earned her fifth LPGA Tour victory and second of the 2024 season.

USGA Accepts More Than 10,000 Entries for Third Time in U.S. Open History

Defending champion Wyndham Clark, and all the Official World Golf Ranking® top 50, are among the 10,052 entries that have been accepted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) for the 124th U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (Course No. 2), in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C. The U.S. Open will be held at the venue for the fourth time from June 13-16.

This is the third time in championship history that the number of entries has exceeded 10,000. The record was established last year when 10,187 entries were accepted for the championship at The Los Angeles (Calif.) Country Club. In 2014, 10,127 entered to play in the 2014 U.S Open at Pinehurst No. 2. This year, entries were accepted from golfers in all 50 states, including 381 from host state North Carolina, as well as Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and 70 foreign countries.

Victories for Fujikura Ventus on the PGA and LPGA Tour

Fujikura, the leader in performance golf shafts, was honored to be the #1 driver and wood shaft for both PGA Tour events last week, along with the #1 driver shaft spot at the first LPGA Tour Major of the season. In total, all three winners at these events used a Fujikura driver and/or wood shaft on their way to victory.
