Titleist TSR3 Driver Review - Play With Pete Invitational from Scioto Country Club (Jeff)

This guest review is from Jeff (@Jeff17Black on twitter) on his new Titleist TSR3 driver.  Jeff and all the players at Play With Pete Invitational from Scioto Country Club got fit for and received new Titleist drivers for their day at Scioto.

You guys know all about my Play With Pete Invitationals, and the entire day at Scioto was absolutely crazy and wildly fun for all the players and everyone watching along.  And along the way it sounds like Jeff found himself a driver to take his game to the next level, calling his TSR3 "the best driver I have ever used."

In his own words, here's what Jeff thinks about his new Titleist TSR3 driver.

I was so lucky to be picked for the Play with Pete Invitational Scioto, just being able to meet the guys and play a historical course was enough for me.  One of the gifts from Pete and Titleist was a custom fit TSR Driver.

I set up a fitting with my local fitter, John Hurley of Summit Golf and was able to test every shaft and head combo in the TSR line. After about an hour of testing, the winning set up for me was the TSR3 with a Ventus Black Velocore 6x.

During the fitting a couple things stood out vs the driver I was using. My ball speed jumped 7mph! Which equated to about 21 yards of carry gained!  The other thing for me was a tighter dispersion and less punishing misses.

To be honest I didn’t have my best day driving at #PWPIScioto, but my misses were not bad enough to knock me out of the hole and when I did have good swings, I could see the distance gains. 

Fast Forward to now and WOW the TSR3 is by far the best driver I have ever used.  Once I was able to dial it in, I don’t see this leaving the bag for a while.

I mentioned distance gains, having a few rounds under my belt, I can say that the fitting did not inflate any numbers.  On my home course I am easily 1-2 clubs less into the greens.  From hitting an 8 iron into greens to now hitting wedges into greens makes a world of difference in scoring. 

Distance gains are great and all but keeping it in play with the distance is key, and the TSR3 delivers.  With my old driver my miss was left, and the big miss was a horrible hook. I felt like I was overswinging to create power with my old driver.

With the TSR the power is now effortless.  I do not feel like I need to attack the ball as hard which allows for better tempo, timing, and speed.  Finally, the TSR is the only driver I have ever been able to flight the ball down if needed and not lose major distance or lose the line.

I have always been a pretty good driver of the golf ball, but the TSR3 has been a true game changer for me.  I have more confidence over the ball.  Knowing if I am even a little off on the day, I will keep the ball in play.  It looks great, feels great and PLAYS great!
