Miura Golf, manufacturer of the world’s finest forged golf clubs, today announced the release of the TC-202, the latest offering in their legendary line of handmade forged irons.
Six years ago, Miura introduced the TC-201 irons, designed to provide the best possible blend of playability and increased forgiveness. The success of that series has now led to the creation of the next generation: TC-202. The irons feature center mass weight distribution, inspired by the Miura CB-57, assuring a solid impact feel, stability, and maneuverability.
A critical enhancement to the TC-202 is the T-Weight Bar, which facilitates the precise distribution and density of weight in the club head. This innovation has optimized trajectory control, spin consistency, and forgiveness. The precision of the T-Weight Bar delivers a powerful sound and feel. There is also variable depth throughout, making each iron, from the 3-iron to the gap wedge, unique and optimal for each specific shot.
The sole design of the TC-202 is highlighted by Miura’s iconic Y grind leading edge which promotes efficient and powerful turf interaction, and more importantly, a club head delivered to square at impact. Miura craftsmen have refined the Y Grind of the TC-202 by taking into account years of feedback and lessons learned from watching, and speaking with, golfers of all skill levels. The result is that golfers will benefit from a grind that has optimized width, including leading and trailing edge relief.
“In a day and age when many clubs are designed to do one or two things, the TC- 202 irons are for the player who wants to hit every shot,” said Bill Holowaty, COO, Miura Golf. “Modern technology has given us weight screws, multi materials, and hollow bodied irons, but the TC-202 is able to deliver high performance from a traditional looking set. It’s those classic looks, combined with the sound and feel of hitting a Miura iron, that reinforces our renowned reputation.”
The variable depth through the T-Weight Bar that is featured in the TC-202 has an impact on every iron in the series. For short irons, precision weighting enables trajectory and distance control that is similar to that of a muscle-back. For mid irons, greater cavity presence enhances feel and control. And finally, a lower center of gravity provides forgiveness that is not typically found in long irons.
“At Miura Golf, we recognize that a properly designed iron head must deliver performance in addition to being aesthetically pleasing,” said Shinei Miura, son of the legendary Katsuhiro Miura. “Our proprietary manufacturing process and attention to detail has allowed us to produce the next generation TC-202 without compromising performance for looks. We provide the best of both.”
While the use of 3D printers and CNC milling machines are increasingly prevalent in modern-day club manufacturing, the Miura family remains committed to traditional forging and maintaining the industry’s tightest tolerances. Each TC-202 iron will be meticulously handcrafted, ensuring unmatched precision and feel.
“Developing the perfect blend of features from both muscle-back and cavity-back irons clearly meets the evolving needs of all levels of players, and the TC-202 has achieved this feat,” said Hoyt McGarity, CEO of 8AM Golf. “With half a century of skilled craftsmanship and a spirit of constant innovation, Shinei Miura has taken the best attributes from our favorite Miura irons and combined them into one refined package that will appeal to a wide range of golfers.”
