When I review equipment and gear you guys know these are products I've tested that ultimately stand out as special. You already know how much I love my Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons. We have have chats in DMs and in posts about everything I review and it's always incredibly gratifying to help you find new equipment and gear that works best for you.
And this guest review of the Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons by Nick makes me smile ear to ear because hit sounds like he might have an ideal set of irons for his game. Nick won the ZX7 Mk II in my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway and says they are "10/10 in the looks department," and are "classic player irons with a little extra juice [that] stop on a dime."
In his own words, here's what Nick (@AllTruth16 on X) thinks about his new Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons.
So it's early March and I have officially put the new Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons to work. Two rounds in the books and several range sessions have proven that these irons are by no means "underrated" as so many people have said.
These irons are just flat out awesome. Good players have known for a long time how exceptional Srixon iron offerings are...and these new Mk II's continue that tradition. (In the pic above ZX7 Mk II irons holding very hard, early March greens. A lot of spin on this 6-iron.)
First thing is just how amazing they look in the bag, the "curb appeal" of these sticks is second to none. They have all the looks low to mid handicappers are searching for. A thinner top line, compact head and amazing finish. An absolute 10/10 in the looks department.
Everyone loves great looking irons but more important is how they play and feel. As a long time blade/muscle back guy I have been hesitant to game a full set of cavity backs worrying about losing some feel, especially in the mid and short irons. Not the case here!
The ZX7 Mk II are workable in both directions, very easy to flight down and they stop on a dime. I paired them with the Nippon Modus 120X and the combo felt perfect.
In a time of jacked up lofts and everything wanting to add distance I really appreciated the more traditional lofts in the ZX7. Not to say they don't travel, because for a players irons they are pretty long, but not ridiculously long like so many of the players distance offerings out there now. These play much more like a classic players irons with a little extra juice.
All in all I can't say enough good things about the Srixon ZX7 Mk II. They have moved into the bag full time and it's only March. I can't wait to see how they perform during the warmer summer months and after quite a few more rounds with them. (In the pic below taking dead aim all day with the new irons.
