It's won countless major championships. It's the most popular model in their line-up. And more than 80-percent of players on Tour use this brand, and aren't even under contract or endorsed to do so.
Of course I'm talking about Golf Pride grips and their Tour Velvet model. These are grips that are exceptionally comfortable and perform dependably in both dry and wet conditions. And one of you is going to win a Full Set of 13 Tour Velvet Align grips. And we're also going to give one of you a Full Set of 13 Tour Wrap MicroSuede grips in DAY 2 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway.
The Tour Velvet Align is all about non-slip traction above all else, and even in the worst weather these grips have proven to be completely trustworthy. Rainy days, humid days, hot summer days it didn't matter. Tour Velvet Align withstands all conditions with outstanding, reliable traction.
In terms of feel, they're not quite as soft as a CP2 Pro or Wrap and don't have the same feedback as a firmer cord grip. But honestly there's still so much softness and feedback that I'd call this the finest grip in their blue-ribbon line. It's a fantastic balance of comfort and and sensation, and probably one of the big reasons Tour Velvet are the go-to grips for an ultra-majority of players.
Align as you probably already know is that dedicated red strip that runs down the backside of the grip. Golf Pride's incorporated Align into more models since it first debuted, and all my Golf Pride grips, from Tour Velvet to MMC have Align tech. I'm a huge fan of this.
Reminder grips aren't a novel invention, they've been around for awhile. But Golf Pride really nailed it with Align by making it subtle enough to feel the reminder where your fingers and hands should be, but not so pronounced that it feels awkward or changes the shape and feel of the grip. In fact, it actually gives you a more consistent locked-in sensation compared to grips without Align. Last time I'll say it I promise, I just freaking love Align grips.
Tour Wrap MicroSuede grips have an incredibly satisfying and unique feel. Soft and smooth, almost like suede side out leather grips you'd find on old hickory clubs.
MicroSuede have exceptional traction, and by comparison offer a softer more plush tackiness than the Tour Wrap 2G. In fact, I'd say they give you even more grip and friction than the regular Tour Wrap. It's almost a locked in sensation, which is strange and cool because your hands are less prone to move, yet the soft feel also decreases grip pressure.
In hot, humid, and rainy conditions MicroSuede have been flawlessly reliable. And having put these on two sets of irons since last fall, I'm happy to also report they're one of the most durable soft grips you'll find anywhere.
MicroSuede are still plenty tacky, have remained newer looking and feeling than even the Tour Velvet over a same period of time, and I honestly haven’t given any thought of replacing them (going back to late last August). That's good stuff.
Golf Pride just nailed it with Tour Wrap MicroSuede.
