Motocaddy Appoints Mark Kuryak to Lead Americas

Motocaddy has appointed Californian Mark Kuryak as its new President/General Manager in the Americas to drive sales and raise awareness of the world’s biggest-selling electric golf caddy brand in the golf playing nations across both continents.

With over two decades of high-level management and sales experience across a number of successful sporting goods and lifestyle brands, Mark is now responsible for maximizing on-course, big box retailers and online sales opportunities for the innovative brand that ranks as global market leader in electric caddies and complementary golf bags.

Motocaddy launched its North American operation in 2019 to offer U.S. based sales, service and distribution, and you already know how highly I think of my M7 REMOTE model.

“I’m delighted to be joining Motocaddy at such an exciting time for the brand as it looks to capitalize on the trend towards walking on the golf course,” said Mark. “Motocaddy has seen rapid growth over the last couple of seasons, so I’m looking forward to working closely with existing retail partners and growing distribution to make our products available to even more golfers,” he added.

Mark joins Motocaddy from a role at Easton Hockey as Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Operations and Customer Service. Most recently, he was Director of Sales of eCommerce and Channel Strategy for Easton Diamond Sports, both based in California.

Joining OGIO in 2009 as Global VP and GM in its Lifestyle, Endurance and Motorsport sector, Mark then had experience as Vice President of Sales at Rawlings Sporting Goods. He began his career at Easton Sports Inc. building the hockey division which was recognized as one of the most innovative hockey brands in the world and accomplished #1 market share in key categories, along with launching game-changing products such as the 1-Piece Graphite Hockey Stick, which has become the largest hockey category at retail today.

He leads Motocaddy’s operations in the Americas following last year’s expansion with the opening of a new warehouse in Vista, San Diego. The 6,000 sq. ft. facility supports the growing demand from golfers wanting to walk the course with electric powered carts and feel the benefits of using Motocaddy products already popular with golfers in Europe.

It also provides enhanced office space for the brand’s U.S. based sales and customer service team, in addition to Motocaddy’s National Service Centre in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Motocaddy CEO John Helas commented: “This is an incredibly important appointment for the brand, as we continue to establish our credentials in the world’s biggest golf market.   Mark brings a wealth of sales and leadership experience that will be crucial in sustaining the momentum that we’ve gained since launching Stateside almost three years ago. I’d like to thank Roger Teat (who has returned to Cobra Puma) for his efforts in getting the brand to where it is today and I’m excited to welcome Mark to lead the next chapter, as we believe that the potential for growth is huge.”

To determine the level of interest in walking on a golf course, Motocaddy recently conducted a survey among North American golfers and found that a number of health and performance benefits was influential in using a powered caddy, with 48% of golfers saying they enjoy being able to walk without the strain of carrying a bag. A further 43% noted that golf becomes more enjoyable with an electric caddy and 28% of golfers attributed an improvement to his or her fitness.

Thanks to powered caddies, American golfers have also found they’ve been able to play more golf and continue to play when fatigue or injury would typically restrict them. Over a third (39%) of golfers said that they were playing more golf as a result of owning an electric caddy with 49% of those surveyed wishing they had switched to one sooner.

Motocaddy sells a variety of electric and push carts in more than 40 countries across the world and set up a subsidiary in the United States following a company acquisition by Ethos Partners in 2019. It has sold more than 600,000 electric walking carts since its formation in 2004 and is also the UK market leader in push models and cart bags designed to fit the carts securely.
