Fujikura Unveils AXIOM Iron Shafts with VeloCore for 2023: First Impressions

Fujikura, the industry leader in performance golf shafts, is proud to introduce an incredibly innovative and game changing addition to its line of iron shafts: AXIOM.

Designed for ultimate consistency and feel, AXIOM iron shafts will be available through Fujikura’s Charter Dealer network beginning March of 2023.

For the past two years, VENTUS has been the #1 metalwood shaft on worldwide professional tours and Fujikura’s best-selling shaft line. The new AXIOM iron shaft line utilizes the same VeloCore Technology featured in both VENTUS and VENTUS TR.

VeloCore Technology is precisely configured to provide golfers extreme consistency, stability, and workability on all shots, giving them the confidence to play their best golf. Extensive player testing and enso analytics validated that the integration of VeloCore Technology into an iron profile yielded the same performance results players have experienced with VENTUS.

These benefits include increased ball speeds from better and more consistent center face contact, tightened dispersion (both distance and accuracy), and amazing control for more consistent shot patterns.

Another key feature of the new AXIOM line is an innovative 3-parallel shaft length system that further drives performance throughout the set. Long (2-iron through 4-iron), mid (5-iron through 7=iron), and short (8-iron through P) shaft parallel configurations help create constant set weight and eliminate the need for extensive shaft tipping. Reduced tipping enables the retention of premium material integration in the tip section to maintain consistency and feel.

Initially only utilized for wood shafts, enso analytics and testing at Fujikura have now progressed to include iron shafts, showing us exactly how technology integration effects performance and the exact layouts and material locations that ensure optimal results.

“When we set out to create an iron shaft that would feature our flagship technology, it needed to meet very demanding and specific criteria for us to call it a success. Not only did it need to provide golfers the same exceptional benefits they’ve experienced with other VeloCore-powered products, but also give players the unique and iron-specific performance attributes that will truly enhance their critical scoring shots,” says Spencer Reynolds, Fujikura’s Product & Brand Manager.

My AXIOM Initial Testing

I hit the new AXIOM 105 S shafts a few weeks ago in Florida and was impressed enough to want them put in a set of my own irons.

The first thing I noticed was that AXIOM was they felt very active at impact but still firm and stable.  These weren't the kind of composite shafts that are so stout they feel almost dead.  Nor are they so soft feeling you lose control and feel.  The AXIOM gave me a great sense of where the head was during my swing. A lot of graphite shafts (even heavier ones) can feel feathery through the swing. Not these, great awareness and tempo throughout. And at impact AXIOM  felt smooth but powerful. Really good stuff in the feel department.

If AXIOM had my curiosity with feel, it grabbed my attention with performance.  There's an undeniable consistency of distance and accuracy on mishits.  On a few shots that weren't center contact I still got excellent results. Distance and accuracy loss was so minimized, these mishits more closely resembled good strikes than something mediocre in flight and distance.  It legit raised my eyebrows and made me eager to out AXIOM in my own irons..

I wasn't able to get impressions on the different parallel configurations (long, mid, and short) to test performance on all irons through the bag.  But this is another aspect of the AXIOM (if they perform as claimed) that has me crazy excited. And (golf nerd alert) AXIOM has honestly kept me up a few nights trying to decide which iron set I want to pair these with.  I'll have a full review on the new AXIOM as we get closer to spring.

AXIOM is available in three shaft weights and various flexes to fit a wide range of players and is designed for golfers seeking to maximize their iron performance by hitting it closer to their target more consistently and efficiently. AXIOM will be available at retail from March, 2023 through authorized Fujikura Charter Dealers.
