Callaway Rogue ST MAX Driver Review: 2022 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 2

Ask some golfers and they'll tell you they'd rather be longer off the tee even if it means being less accurate.  Others will say being in the fairway with driver makes the game easier and they're willing to sacrifice some distance to keep drives in play.

To all these players Callaway says with their new Rogue ST MAX driver you can have the whole pie, distance and accuracy.  And one of you is going to win a new Rogue ST MAX driver of your own.  Choose either 9 or 10.5 degree loft, regular, stiff, or extra stiff flex, and RH or LH.

I already reviewed the Rogue ST MAX driver for you this season, but will highlight a few points here again and touch on some of the main reasons why I liked it so much, and also distinguish it a bit from previous Callaway drivers as well as other drivers now on the market.

Let's start forgiveness.  Rogue ST MAX absolutely excels in this department.  I've always found most Callaway drivers to be relatively long (and even longer) compared to others on the market, but there have been a few models that just didn't have the best dispersion.  Rogue ST MAX changed that for me.

I can hit good shots now even on strikes all over the face.  And mishits even towards the heel have great distance and dispersion.  Rogue ST MAX is absolute bomb smash on repeat.  And in fact, it's so fun to hit there have been countless times after a round I'd go with one of my buddies to the range just to hit my Rogue ST MAX even more before going home.

Callaway says there's a slight draw bias with Rogue MAX but any yards offline I've seen have been consistently hugging my intended line.  This driver just wants to go straight, and when you see that it kinda frees you up to swing without inhibition and go after it as hard as you want.  This area in particular as mentioned is a huge step over other Callaway drivers I've hit in the past and an advantage over other OEM drivers as well.

Rogue ST Max sound and feel is more muted than previous models like Mavrik and Epic, but at the same time it's also a stronger (maybe better said dense) feel at impact.  Front to back the shape is on the larger size, almost like a can't miss larger size at address.  And no doubt that contributes to its very stable face and consequently ball flight and trajectory as well.  The weight, feel, sound and delivery of Rogue ST MAX into and through the ball for me is really special.

What probably surprised me most about Rogue ST MAX was ball flight.  I tend to hit low spin models best from any OEM, but this driver still gives me a piercing trajectory that takes off and just keeps rising.  And clearly it must be low spin enough as I don't get any shots that just hang out and die because of excessive spin.  Weight is focused in the back of the driver but it seems to affect stability for me and in a positive way above all else.

Rogue ST MAX is a great driver, simple as that.  In my opinion it's improved significantly over past models in reducing drop off in carry distance and intended direction on mishits.  And as alluded to even with mishits all over the face.  More distance and more accuracy, even when I'm not hitting my best?  Mission accomplished, Callaway.

Remember you always have three different ways to win the daily gifts in my giveaway this year.  On twitter just retweet my giveaway announcement and follow all; on Instagram repost, mention in your story, or like, and follow all; and here on my blog leave a comment in the section below in the daily review/giveaway, Jingle Bam, and Letters from Santa articles.

These gifts are great prizes of course, but also some of the best equipment and gear in their class that I played and reviewed this season.  And I hope these mini reviews and recaps give you an idea of why I rate them so highly.

Merry Christmas all!
