I think you guys knew this was coming.  I know you hoped it was.  So for my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas JingleBAM DAY 2 giveaway someone's going to win both the Original Penguin Performance Quarter Zip Hoodie and Insulated Puffer Vest from their new 2022-23 Polar Pete Golf Collection.

I love the Original Penguin brand because it's really defined the way we dress today.  It's timeless and it's cool.  You might even say OP is OG.  And this new Polar Pete Collection is true to OP's retro roots, while still looking contemporary and feeling fantastic both on and of the course.

Original Penguin has been about clean, tailored, and fresh looks since it was founded in 1955, and Pete the Penguin has made his mark and been adored by people in culture and sports ever since.  The penguin logo (by the way) came about when the founder decided to buy a stuffed toy penguin as a drinking companion after a delayed flight.  And somewhere along the line he decided the penguin would be a great logo.  Clearly this was one hell of a flight.

In the 1960's Arnold Palmer wore Original Penguin and some will tell you this was the beginning of the classic golf shirt.  But off the course as well, figures like Dean Martin and Clint Eastwood were always spotted wearing Original Penguin as well.  And today it's Cam Smith, one of golf's best players in the world carrying the torch and momentum of OP's iconic and versatile style.

 

So back to the gear.  To state the obvious, the Performance Quarter Zip hoodie looks freaking awesome.  Clean, strong stitching over the shoulders, through the chest, even around the pockets and hem give the hoodie maximum comfort and functionality.  This is really well made.

 

Stretch everywhere gives you fantastic freedom of movement.  And the material is substantial to keep you warm, but not heavy to feel bulky.  You can take this to the course, out on the weekend for dinner and drinks, and probably even for a Sunday morning pickup football game.  And of course there's the awesome of Pete the Penguin logos lining the inside of the hood and the Original Penguin script down the zipper and on the hoodie strings.

 

The OP insulated puffer vest is extremely well made and exceptionally warming.  And like the hoodie, the vest isn't thick or bulky.  The outer nylon shell feels almost suedey but in fact protects you against and keeps out the wind and rain.  Again Original Penguin proving functional can look great too.

 

Pockets are zippered with a lot of area for your hands or whatever you might want to carry.  And the full front zipper rises into a kind of mock neck collar to keep you even warmer.  The side and shoulders of the vest feature four-way stretch for maximum freedom of movement.

 

And again there's Pete the Penguin subtly appearing inside on the lining for just a little extra swagger.  All around as good as it gets.
