Letters from Santa DAY 5 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway: Full Set of New Edel Golf SMS Irons or SMS Pro Irons (Custom Built)

Santa can't catch a break these days!  I'll let you tell him all about it but it all has to do with a gold tooth, getting into the golf ball manufacturing game, and of course the elves are raising hell again.  You can read about it below.

Santa's been playing the new Edel Golf SMS Pro irons a lot this year and turns out a lot of the elves are as well.  Unfortunately the SMS irons blazing speed and pinpoint accuracy were the cause of Santa's trouble today.  But he's a glass half full kinda guy.  And so for DAY 5 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway he wants to give someone a custom built set of new Edel SMS irons or SMS Pro irons.  Any shafts and grips they offer.  Built up to the winners spec in a 4-G set.

As you decide between those models I'd really encourage you to read the review I wrote comparing and contrasting them here.   It will help you figure out which irons might be better for you and as always happy to answer any and all questions you have.

I'll enclose a few more comparative pics for you here in addition to the many pics in my review.  And as you'd expect the SMS Pro have thinner toplines, thinner soles, and overall more compact shape.  Really just tight, tight, tight.  But as you'll read in the review also surprisingly forgiving.  That's something the industry has been moving towards - giving more forgiveness to compact irons but not sacrificing feel, control, or consistency.

 

 

And will say again Edel did a phenomenal job with SMS Pro in that regard and even more so with the standard SMS.  Of course there's the SMS "Swing Match System," which you can also read about in the review.  Edel clearly put a lot of time, a lot of testing, and a lot of R&D into these irons.  And for simplicity sake you can think of SPM vs. SMS Pro as something similar to Mizuno Pro 243 vs Mizuno Pro 245.  Yes I did just use Edel and Mizuno in the same sentence.  And no need to read into it.  But things are happening at Edel.  Really big things.

Merry Christmas all, and here's Santa's letter to me again.  I'm hoping Santa thinks better of the gold tooth by the way, but he's gonna do what he's gonna do.  I know that about him for sure.

Pete you’ll never believe where I’ve been all day.  In the dentist’s chair!  Hermey by the way has become quite an accomplished DDS.  Always has time for everyone, elves, reindeer, and today of course me.  Don’t know how he does it though, he’s always so busy.  Guess it just goes to show put your mind to it and you can accomplish anything. 

Where to begin?  Back in the spring I read your Edel Golf SMS Pro iron review and decided yeah I’m gonna give those a spin.  And I should have known to never doubt you.  The SMS Pro were even better than you said.  Firing at those pins in the Candy Cane Open a month later felt so good.  And finally won that damn tournament!   Working the ball with the agility of ninja gnome.  So efficient.  Effortless control. 

The elves of course start snooping around my equipment garage after that.  So damn nosy.  And they saw my SMS Pros.  Was actually a good thing though as we all decided to bring those irons in for our Annual Christmas in July Golf Equipment Test-A-Thon.  We had to blindfold the elves this year during testing.  They always think the shiniest irons are the best irons.  Again… damn elves.  Anyway a lot of em wound up getting fit for those same SMS Pro irons.  And all year they’ve been peppering targets all over the North Pole. Some of em thought it funny to target Mrs. Claus’ nutcracker collection.  Something about hitting the nutcrackers and making their mouths move was apparently ridiculous to them.  I’ll never understand. 

Fast forward to today and here comes Shiny Upatree.  I’ve told you about him, elf who helped design the Christmas Village.  So has a bit of an ego.  Well he’s hitting balls with his new SMS Pros in the Snow Globe Indoor Golf area and yells out to me from the entrance, “Twenty bucks I can knock your tooth out from back here!” 

Mind you he’s about 180 yards from me, and honestly I just wanted him to shut up.  So I yelled back, “Yeah, show me your best Tiger stinger Shiny!”  Next thing you knew I was out flat on my back.  And it was a bullseye right to my tooth.  Those SMS Pro really are that good. 

So I’ve had my mouth filled with all that Alginate rubber stuff getting an impression today for a new permanent tooth.  Actually got me thinking with the new ball rollback thing maybe Alginate a great material for new ball core designs?  Hermey and I gonna pow-wow about that in a few days.  Rather than going toothless waiting to get a permanent to put in I decided to go with one of those temporary flappers or flippers.  Whatever they’re called.  And then it hit me!  Since it’s just temporary why not go full Gold Grillz.  Would give me street cred when I’m delivering presents in the tough neighborhoods on Christmas Eve.  Even thought of a new nickname, Santa Bullion.  Pretty cool right?  Suffice to say Mrs. Claus was having none of it. 

Tooth mishap or not I was going to tell you to give someone a full set of Edel SMS irons or SMS Pro irons.  Have Edel build em up with whatever shafts they want, grips, fully spec’d out.  Hitting every iron shot on command is a gift that keeps on giving Pete.  Trust me.  Make this Edel thing happen. 

Anyway, if you can think of anything and help me convince Mrs. Claus to sign off on the gold tooth lemme know.  Maybe a cooler nickname?  Flavor Flav Santa?  Notorious N.I.K?  Or should I probably just call it a night?
