Santa dared me and you know Kringle gonna take any dare. So let's start the first of FIVE Santa Dared Me giveaways in my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway with something that's a bit of a mystery and generating A LOT of buzz on social media and on Tour. I'm talking about the new 2024 Project X Denali Driver and Wood shafts.
We've seen Denali Blue back in July at a PGA Tour event and Denali Black sightings will probably start rolling out in January. True Temper and Project X haven't released all the details about Denali (as they haven't been officially released yet). But I'm going to share a few tasty morsels about Denali you might not know about. And one of you is also getting your very own Denali Blue or Black shaft. You can pick any weight and flex (I'll tell you what's available below).
The new Project X Denali shafts are the result of 18 months of Tour testing and R&D. And several pros are already using these with feedback being excellent and demand ever growing. In blind testing versus two of the most popular shafts on Tour the Denali was preferred 75-percent of the time. I don't have the details or sample size of this blind testing but... wow. And Denali is already being touted as a triple threat of precision, power, and feel.
Denali is a complement to the extremely popular Project X HZRDUS. And when Denali Blue shafts were launched this summer more than 30 sets were put in play immediately on Tour. With Denali you're still getting the uncompromising stability of HZRDUS. But now as opposed to the stout feeling of HZRDUS you're getting a feel that's much smoother and livelier.
The Denali Blue profile has a long parallel in the butt section which is great for stability in the hands. But this is also where the stout HZRDUS feeling comes from. So to make Denali smoother feeling Project X shortened that parallel section in the butt and went taper all the way down the rest of the entire shaft. This gives you that smoother, livelier feel and for many players even more energy release.
Denali Black was created for players who don't want or need the mid-spin profile of Denali Blue. Black is a little more tip stiff than Blue so it's going to give you a lower launching lower spinning flight. And I think where people are going to really get on board with both Blue and Black Denali is you're not going to lose control of stability with these shafts just because they're smoother feeling (especially for higher swing speed players).
Going back to the HZRDUS shafts for a moment because invariably there will be comparisons between those and Denali. I'd say if you call HZRDUS a raw power kind of Hulk shaft? Then Denali would be a more finesse power kind of Superman shaft. Okay yeah I'm watching a Marvel movie right now but it really is an accurate description.
For the Denali Blue shaft you'll be able to choose 50 gram, 60 gram, or 70 gram weights in all flexes from 5.0 to TX. There will also be a Blue 80 gram TX only flex. While for Denali Blue you'll have 60 gram, 70 gram, and 80 gram weights in all flexed from 5.0 to TX.
