Tour Edge Golf has done something truly special with their new Exotics C725 and E725 drivers (and really the entire 725 line to be honest). In a nutshell Tour Edge has given us more of what you want in each performance category. Both drivers are longer and straighter both drivers are more forgiving, and both drivers are consistently better performing in their own right. The new Exotics 725 lineup is Tour Edge’s da Vinci of club design and performance.
So we're going to let you choose for JingleBAM DAY 7 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway. Head on over to the Tour Edge site here and choose either the C725 or E725, RH or LH, in whatever loft, shaft, length, and flex is offered. Be sure to check out the great variety of No Upcharge Custom Shafts when designing your build.
I've already told you a bit about the Exotic 725 line on social but I'm going to compare my Tour Edge C725 to the previous gen C723 here so you can see the real improvements. And I'll also touch on a few differences between the C725 and E725 to help you make your decision when you begin your custom build.
And as always I won't go into the new tech as much as the actual performance I saw the new drivers. You can read about the new 725 tech here on Tour Edge's website.
Tour Edge C725
The new Tour Edge C725 Driver should have one of those “Danger: Explosive Materials” labels on it. It's absolutely nuclear and I'm quite sure it's the longest Tour Edge driver I’ve ever hit or played. The craziest thing about it however? C725 nears the forgiveness of some game-improvement driver models out there.
C725 maintains a consistently low spin better than C723 on mishits particularly high on face and out towards the toe. And this helps create consistently good shots that maintain launch, distance, and dispersion results on these misses versus center strikes. Toe miss distance is noticeably superior (longer and straighter) with C725 vs. C723. And I'm attributing much of this to what Tour Edge calls their new face the 3D Diamond Face.
It's abundantly clear that ball speeds are higher and the overall sweet spot impact zone has been enlarged. C725 holds its line tighter than C723 on both center strikes and misses around the face. In fact, C725 dispersion and accuracy were so tight the words “screaming lasers” popped into my head watching ball flights.
The Tour Edge C725 driver shape (450cc) is rounder than C723 with a tad taller face and it's also a tad shorter front-to-back. I suspect the new design and weighting also has something to do with the C725 entire head feeling more stable on misses outside that inverted cone sweet spot.
C725 also sounds and feels a lot different than C723. The C723 is noticeably higher pitched and metallic sounding versus the C725 sound that’s muted and more composite thwack sounding at impact. In terms of feel, with C723 the ball felt (by comparison) almost rubbery coming off the face. Whereas now with C725 the feel at impact is firmer and more powerful.
Tour Edge E725
The Tour Edge E725 (460cc) driver as you'd expect has a larger profile head, is deeper front to back, and has a shallower face than the C725. The big story with E725 is the 10K MOI which delivers absolutely massive stability at impact. There's less twisting of the face so more of your mishits fly even straighter.
But The 10K in the E725 isn't merely 10K. I'd call it Your 10K. And the reason I say that is because you have adjustable weighting in the back that you can move left, right, and center on the track. And this will be very significant in helping players get the exact 10K forgiveness they need in terms of general shot shape correction as well.
C725 vs. E725
I didn't compare the E725 to the C723 but I do have some comparisons for you (without any hosel setting adjustments for upright/flat/draw/fade) between the E725 and C725. Here are the bullet points here.
- E725 (actually surprisingly) had about 5 mph faster ball speed than C725
- E725 has about 500 more RPM of spin than C725
- E725 has better forgiveness on shots struck low on the face (trajectory and distance closer to good strikes on low misses with E725 versus C725)
- C725 has a noticeably lower launch and overall flatter trajectory than E725
- C725 has a slightly left-of-center dispersion bias while E725 has more of a slightly right-of-center dispersion bias
Even with E725's faster ball speeds and what I believe to be Tour Edge's largest sweetspot ever in a driver I still prefer the smaller shape of the C725. And as mentioned there's plenty enough forgiveness in this for me as well.
On the other hand if you miss all over the face, want customizable 10K stability, and that above mentioned blazing ball speed then E725 is the choice for you. Don't think E725 is not for better players though just because it's higher launching and spinning. You have a variety of No Upcharge shafts from Tour Edge that can help get that trajectory and spin down if you like.
Whichever new Tour Edge driver you choose, C725 and E725 are both bombers that are going to put you in those No Divot Zones farther up the fairway than you've ever been before.
