So for DAY 6 in my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway let's give you a choice between not only two of Shot Scope's best products, but two of the best golf watches on the market. You can choose between either the new Shot Scope V5 GPS Watch or the new Shot Scope X5 GPS Watch.
I've already given you the rundown on both of these fantastic watches so here I'm going to just focus on some similarities and differences between V5 and X5 to help make your choice easier.
Size and Display
First off both premium watches are about the same size and both have fantastic color displays protected by hard mineral glass.
User Control
One of the biggest differences between the watches (and in my opinion this is really about preference) is that V5 control is accomplished using the four buttons around the watch casing.
Both the V5 and G5 watches give you the options of five different clock faces and offer the same incredible On-Course features (I'll touch on some of those below). I have found however that the V5 has about an hour more of use to it on one charge than the X5. But you'll be able to get two full rounds of golf in with both watches in Golf Mode.
Revolutionary Features Galore
The On-Course features with both the V5 and G5 watches are amazingly comprehensive and numerous and yet also incredibly easy to use. You're not going to want for pretty much anything in terms of getting yardages and analyzing statistics with both the V5 and G5.
Both watches feature full hole (birds-eye view) maps, front/middle/back green distances and movable pin locations, exact dynamic yardages mapped from every angle on the course to front and carry every hazard and dogleg, as well as strategic layup distances. And over 36,000 courses are preloaded on the V5 and X5 with in-round digital scorecards to keep track of your scores and performance.
The X5 might have one stat-tracking advantage over V5 in the full hole map area in that it allows overlays of your club performance tracked over the last 10 rounds. Shot Scope calls this "Personalized Hole Maps." V5 tracks this as well but only X5 gives you the overlay which can be pretty useful.
You're also getting 16 Second Gen tracking tags with both watches that automatically record every shot you hit on the course. You have access to statistics on all your shots. Drives, approaches, short game, putting. And data can be broken down further by lie type. proximity, and specific clubs used. I'm wasn't kidding when I said both of these watches are massively comprehensive. And you never pay any subscription fees for any of this!
Which One to Choose?
Well that's going to be up to you. To me the main difference is V5 buttons vs. X5 touchscreen. And appearance wise the X5 bezel is more polished than the matte bezel of the V5. With both GPS watches you get every reliable distance mapped out to every location you could possibly want. And then the absolute library of statistics, fully customizable for analysis however you like. The Shot Scope V5 and G5 watches are undeniably both 1st Team All-Stars in the GPS golf watch landscape.
