Ai-ONE Milled Putters

The One Wide T is one of four new models Odyssey added to the AI-ONE Milled lineup.  A 2-Ball T, Jailbird Mini T, and Rossie V T being the other three making that 12 Ai-ONE Milled putters you can choose from.

Ai-ONE Milled has a fully milled titanium insert but it feels like a pure milled no insert face.  In fact if you closed your eyes and hit a few putts with Ai-ONE Milled you wouldn't guess it has an insert.

And the Ai technology (in all models) has been proven to maintain consistent ball speeds across the face so you basically have a much larger sweet spot on mishits than traditional putters.

Odyssey also added new models to the Ai-ONE line bringing the number of putters in this family up to a smorgasbord of 28 majestic flatsticks.

And the Ai-ONE The insert is my favorite Odyssey insert of all time.  The Ai-ONE insert is a combination of White Hot urethane on the hitting surface and contoured aluminum on the back (you can see the technology on the back or bottom window depending on model).  And it's a feel unlike any Odyssey insert I've ever tried.  It's still soft like you'd expect from a White Hot insert.  But for whatever reason it's also noticeably more responsive.

Hitting putts of all lengths with the new Ai-ONE gave me more and better feedback than previous White Hot putters I've used.  Long putts, short putts, the feel resonated into my hands.  I freaking loved the sensation.  Maybe it's the aluminum back, maybe it's a tweak to the urethane formula, I don't know.  But I found it very interesting because it's usually a milled face putter that gives you this kind of feedback.  For anyone who's always craved a soft feeling insert putter but didn't want to sacrifice responsiveness the Ai-ONE is pretty much the best of both worlds.

Square to Square

There are three models in the Odyssey Square 2 Square lineup, and you guessed it, the Square 2 Square Jailbird is arriving soon for my next review.  I've played around a little with one indoors at Club Champion and here are some immediate impressions.

Odyssey promises if you have a closed face at impact Square 2 Square will open it.  And alternatively if you have an open face at impact Square 2 Square will close it.  And SAM PuttLab confirmed this.  I even messed around intentionally trying to open and close my face and the Square 2 Square Jailbird was coming into impact almost freaking identically.

As mentioned above Square 2 Square also features the Ai technology in the Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled putters, but the putting area is only about 12 feet at Club Champion so I haven't been able to test real mishits or longer lag putts yet.  Still, I could tell anywhere inside the insert area was extremely forgiving and consistent for distance control.

The Ai-ONE, Ai-ONE Milled, and Square 2 Square putters represent a new frontier in putting performance.  Not just for Odyssey, but for putters and putter performance across the board.  All of Odyssey's new putters will help slight mishits find the bottom of the cup more often and get longer lag putt mishits closer to the hole.  I'll be happy to help you decide which Odyssey putter is best for you.  And you can always check out Odyssey's intelligent Online Putter Selector Tool here to get some good ideas.
