Mizuno Golf T20 Wedge Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

I'm a wedge freak.  I have countless models, lofts, grinds, and even designs.  The short game is what it's all about for me.  And few things in golf are more satisfying than sticking an approach right on the pin, or escaping from what seems to be an impossible lie in the sand or rough.

The right wedge can improve your scores immediately, and make the game more fun than you ever before imagined.  And the new Mizuno T20 wedges are the gold standard for scoring and fun.  Feel is unmatched, spin is spectacular, and they were the most consistently performing wedges I hit this season.

CRU Golf Legacy Leather Carry Bag and Headcover Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

Golf in it's purest form has always been about enjoying the walk.  It's almost a spiritual feeling when you smell the freshly cut grass as the sun rises on the morning horizon.  When the landscape opens up and you see the pin flag for the first time whipping in the distance, you're at one with nature.

Architecture, shot strategies, and scenery all come together when you walk a course.  And the new CRU Legacy bag pays homage to enjoying the walk.  The Legacy is nostalgic and sophisticated.  It's a leather carry bag you pass on from generation to generation.  And the feeling you'll experience carrying one over your shoulder is pure joy.

PUMA IGNITE NXT Lace Golf Shoes Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

Finding a good pair of spikeless golf shoes is pretty easy these days.  They're becoming increasingly popular with each passing year, and more companies are offering spikeless models than ever before.

Finding a great pair of spikeless golf shoes however, isn't quite as easy.  Some are comfortable but not stable.  Some give you good traction, but aren't very breathable or waterproof.  That is unless you're wearing the new PUMA IGNITE NXT Lace shoes.  And they will likely exceed your expectations for comfort, stability, and traction in a spikeless shoe.

Mitsubishi Diamana ZF Shaft Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

The Mitsubishi Diamana shaft is one of the most iconic, historic, and successful products in golf history.  And somehow, Mitsubishi managed to actually raise the bar even higher with the new Diamana ZF shaft.

I've hit some of the longest drives of my entire life with the Diamana ZF, and would play it for the increased accuracy alone to be honest.  ZF is flat out explosive, and you pretty much can feel the power in your hands after you bomb a few down the fairway.

The Bridgestone Golf e12 Soft golf ball is a three-piece surlyn covered ball that's meant for the everyday golfer.  But don't mistake that to mean it's not as technologically advanced as the Bridgestone B XS and B X Tour balls played by Tiger and Bryson.

e12 Soft is a ball that puts you first, and actually gives you Tour quality innovation that's not usually seen in a three-piece surlyn ball.

Wilson Golf D7 Driver Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

If you followed me on twitter and Instagram this season, you saw one driver I used quite a lot was the Wilson D7.  And the reason is pretty simple.  It's a driver that gives you effortless distance, even if you don't swing fast.  And I'm convinced no one does lightweight speed better than Wilson.

I already reviewed the D7 driver on twitter and Instagram, like always getting it out on multiple courses over a few weeks to give it a thorough real-world workout.  And answered all your specific questions about how it performs as well.  But time to hit some key points again here since one of you is about to score this speed monster and win your very own.

Cleveland Golf CBX 2 Wedge Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

If you follow me on twitter and Instagram, you've already read my on course reviews over multiple weeks playing the CBX2 at various courses, as I thoroughly tested them for various full and half shots from rough, sand, and fairway.

I've hit these from pretty much every lie imaginable.  And can tell you the CBX 2 wedges are going to produce a lot of magical shots for golfers of all abilities.

Compared to the previous generation CBX wedges, the new CBX 2 are definitely more forgiving across a wider portion of the face.  More so towards the toe, but still significantly near the heel and low on the face.  CBX 2 sweet-spot feels like the size of a grapefruit.  And that kind of forgiveness gives anyone a peace of mind no matter where you're hitting from on the course.

There's also a definite CG bias towards the toe, making it incredibly easy to come into square impact consistently.  In fact, I think CBX 2 is somewhat anti-pull, which is a common wedge miss for most amateurs.  CBX 2 rotates less because of the CG bias and is more stable through impact than a blade wedge and even the previous CBX gen.

In terms of feel at impact, you get a soft, firm, click with CBX 2, which is crisper than the original.  Swing feel is also more balanced.  If there's a trade-off with the impact feel, it's that you don't get the same level of feedback as say with the RTX wedges.  But that's expected given the CBX 2 forgiveness.

Spin is a big story and I'm happy to report it's as exceptional in the CBX 2 as it is in Cleveland's RTX models.  In fact, CBX 2 uses identical groove technology as the RTX-4, which means you'll never be hitting from the fairway or rough and wishing you just had a bit more spin.

Cleveland's always been top-grade in the spin department, and that hasn't changed with the CBX 2.  Even on the rainy days and from the thickest rough, I got about as much spin as a wedge can possibly deliver in these conditions.  Launch is a tad higher than traditional blades, but the spin is still very consistent and easy to control.

The CBX 2 sole design has also changed this year from the original model, and this isn't just new to be new.  This is different to produce better results from everywhere on the course.

CBX 2 soles are wider than last gen, but look and play narrower with more camber.  And you're also getting three unique grinds (V, S, and C) with the CBX2 52, 56, and 60 degree lofts compared to one same V grind for all lofts in the previous gen.

The 52 degree V sole is going to cut through the turf without digging and the leading edge still remains low.  It's the ideal sole for most shots you're going to hit with a gap wedge, so there was no reason to change this grind.

The 56 degree S sole is incredibly versatile and picks the ball clean from the fairway, yet still blasts through sand and rough if you open it up.  And forget about digging this wedge into the ground.  The only way sticking a CBX2 56 degree into the turf is if you come at the ball like an axe.  The new grind cuts through the grass if you wanna clip it, and adds bounce when you lay it open.  Simple set up, easy up, easy hit.

And finally, the CBX 2 60 degree C Sole is your  finesse wedge of the three.  One round I flopped a shot over a bunker to a downhill green and the bite was astounding.  Some roll-out for sure, but still enough spin to easily hold the green.  The 60 degree opens more and keeps the lead edge even lower than the 56 degree S Sole.

PROS:
One of, if not the easiest to hit wedges you'll ever hit
Forgiveness across a huge area of the face
Three unique sole grinds give you shots for any type of lie in any type of condition

CONS:
Less feedback on poorly struck shots than traditional blades
Slightly higher launch than traditional blades might not be preferred by all

Adidas Tour360 XT PrimeKnit Shoes Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

What do you want in a golf shoe?  What does everyone want in a golf shoe really?  They have to be comfortable.  They have to deliver stability through your swing.  And they need to keep you rooted to the ground with reliable traction.  Anything less is simply unacceptable.

Well, Adidas Tour360 XT PrimeKnit shoes checks off all those boxes and even gives you substantially more.  You can read my full review here, where I go deeper into what makes these shoes first class.  But I will say here again that in each of the performance categories referred to above, the Tour360XT PrimeKnit is absolutely superlative.

Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Grips Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

There's an expression in life that says you can't please all of the people all of the time, but I'm not sure the folks at Golf Pride grips buy into that.  More than 80-percent of players on Tour use Golf Pride grips, and they aren't even endorsed to do so.

Of all Golf Pride grips, their Tour Velvet is the most popular.  And this year all four majors were won by Tour Velvet grips.  Tour Velvet 360 is the latest model in this blue-ribbon line, and I've learned also their finest.

Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x Balls & Tour Performance Knit Pom Pom Winter Hat Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

The name really says it all.  Titleist.  It's a standard of excellence.  And the Pro V1 and ProV1x are used by more players on Tour, around more courses everyday, and pretty much at one point or another by everyone who's ever picked up a golf club.

The 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x aren't marketed as distance balls, but they still deliver really great distance off the tee and with your irons.  And perhaps the most impressive thing about both of these balls is how consistent they are in performance and feel.  They're just superb for short game control.  And if we're being honest, only a handful of ball manufacturers at most can make that claim.

Last year the first Play with Pete Invitational was amazing fun for everyone involved.  The historic South Course at Oakland Hills was the host in October, and it was a day of great memories, even greater friendships, and golf memories that will be cherished forever.

This year, the 2019 Play with Pete Invitational comes a little later in the calendar year, and pretty much kicks off my 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway.  And again three people were chosen from twitter and Instagram to join me, this time on The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.
